My name is Missy Tripp Ronquillo

I am an artist  & abstract painter based

in  Oak  Island, North Carolina

Missy's educational journey led her to three prestigious institutions where she honed her artistic skills. She pursued her studies at The Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C., Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, and the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia.

Since 1996, Missy has thrived as a freelance artist, specializing in crafting personalized paintings. In 2009, she established her own studio, Pescado Y Amor, which became a creative haven where she conducted workshops, cultivated her artistic brand, and discovered her unique voice as an artist.

Missy's original paintings adorn the walls of restaurants, cafés, retail establishments, and private residences across the United States, Mexico, and worldwide. Her artistic creations have found homes in the collections of private art enthusiasts around the globe. Looking ahead, Missy intends to shift her focus toward her art, gradually reducing her involvement in workshops and retreats. She eagerly anticipates participating in more exhibitions and showcases in the forthcoming years.

Artist Statement

In the ephemeral language of colors and textures, I articulate what words sometimes cannot capture. My body of work embodies the intersection of emotion, perception, and lived experience, presented through the medium of vibrant, mixed-media abstract paintings. These compositions, layered in texture and imbued with mystery, invite the observer into a dialogue that transcends the canvas, a dialogue that explores our interconnectedness with nature and with each other.

At the core of my creative process is the translation of experiences into visual metaphors. Every sentiment felt, every nuance perceived, every moment lived, morphs into a mental image. It is these images that I channel onto my canvas, breathing life into them through hues that are as vivid as the world I perceive. I do not just paint objects or scenes - I paint sound, motion, feelings. My artwork is a symphony of senses, the melodic rhythm of life encapsulated in each stroke of my brush.

Encaustic art has become my recent fascination. The ancient technique of painting with molten beeswax, infused with pigments, resonates with my artistic spirit. This medium, with its inherent versatility, has empowered me to push the boundaries of my creativity. The fluidity and the tactile richness of encaustic enable me to forge a deeper connection with my work, and subsequently with my audience.

In essence, my art is not just an expression of my view of the world; it's an invitation for you to journey with me, to delve beneath the surface, and to see the world not as it is, but as it could be - vibrant, harmonious, and profoundly interconnected.
