Inspired By Mexico: Cold Wax Painting Creative retreat

Join artist and teacher, Missy Tripp Ronquillo for a week of painting, exploration and discovery in the artistic and colorful town of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

Cold wax adds body, transparency, and depth to paint. The paint has a creamy, buttery texture and spreads and layers beautifully.We will use a variety of tools such as squeegees, trowels, painting knives, silicone-bladed painting tools…. you get the idea. One of the most fun parts of the process is mark-making. Again, anything goes – skewers, whisk broom, pine needles, plastic wrap, paper, pencils, — the tools you can use to mark the wax seem limitless. We will also incorporate marks made by oil sticks, wax crayons, charcoal, graphite. Throughout its drying process, the wax responds differently to manipulation. Once it has been set up a bit, after a day or several hours, it can also be scraped away, revealing a history of color and texture beneath.
